What the Columbus 311 heatmap shows
This map shows where people in Columbus file housing and property complaints with
311. It is built from 80,750 City of Columbus code enforcement records at
40,080 addresses, January 2025 through September 2026. Brighter means more
complaints filed close together.
It is not every 311 request. Columbus 311 also takes potholes, streetlights, trash
pickup and more. Those go to other departments and are not in this record. For them, use
the city's own 311 request map,
which shows every request type for the last 30 days.
- Pick a layer. The bar on the map switches the heatmap to one
problem: rats, mold, no heat, trash, tall grass, noise, landlords or vacant buildings.
- Pick a time. All time, this year, or the last 90 days.
- Zoom in. Close up, the heat turns into single reports. Click one to
read what was filed.
- Check an address. Search any Columbus address for its Block Report:
what was filed there, in the same building, and on the blocks around it.
Frequently asked questions
Is this the official City of Columbus 311 map?
No. Know Your Block is an independent site. It maps the housing and property complaints people file with Columbus 311, the ones the city's code enforcement inspectors handle, from public city records. The city's own 311 map shows every kind of request, for the last 30 days.
Why are potholes, streetlights and trash pickup not on this map?
Those requests go to other city departments and are not in the code enforcement record this site is built on. For them, use the city's own 311 service request map. This heatmap covers housing and property problems: rats, mold, no heat, trash and tall grass on a lot, noise, vacant buildings, and complaints about landlords.
What does a bright spot on the heatmap mean?
More complaints filed close together. It is a count, not a rate. Places with more homes, and especially big apartment complexes, make more reports, so a bright spot can be one large building. Zoom in and the map switches to single reports you can click.
How current is the Columbus 311 heatmap?
It covers January 2025 through September 2026. It is updated as the city publishes new records, usually once a month. Use the time buttons on the map to see this year or the last 90 days.
How do I file a 311 complaint in Columbus?
Call Columbus 311 at (614) 645-3111, or use the city's 311 website or mobile app. Say what the problem is, where it is, and how long it has gone on. Complaints like that show up on this map after the city publishes them.
Can I see the complaints at one address?
Yes. Search any Columbus address on the map. The Block Report lists what was filed at that address, the same building, and the blocks around it.
